Today we’re sharing a brief roundup of some of the more common scams, deceptions, manipulations and money-grabbing tactics used by unethical jewelers that give our industry a bad rap. We wanna arm you with the knowledge that each of these common scams and unethical business practices exist...because, once you see it, you can’t UNSEE IT. In some cases, police and governments have gotten involved. But in most cases, it’s up to ethical jewelry companies to call out the bad actors in our industry.  We hope this 5 minute read can give you the info to spot these shenanigans, and we can rest assured that our friends and customers won’t be deceived (again).
A Different Kind of Wedding Bell: The Taco Kind (Fast Food Weddings)
Some people are so passionate about tacos, pizza, burgers or fried chicken that a few famous fast food chains now host weddings and offer special wedding catering packages.  When it comes to planning the nuptials, where to tie that knot is one of the most important decisions. It’s perfectly understandable that a married-couple-to-be is gonna want the perfect venue to spend a fantastic day with the peeps they love the most.  For some brides, the perfect venue is a fast food restaurant. One couple’s Taco Bell-themed wedding plan called for saying their vows in a Las Vegas cantina “chapel” surrounded by their loved ones, as the bride holds a bouquet of Taco Bell sauce packets. Ahhh, the tacos may be gone…but for the Ryckerts the memories last forever.
Couples Battleship? Can sinking his sub really be romantic?
Did you ever play the boardgame Battleship when you were younger?  If you’ve never played, the rules are simple: it’s a guessing game where you sink your opponent’s hidden ships when your “torpedo shot” guesses about the location for each ship on a grid are correct. Whoever sinks the other player’s full navy first wins.
